Peer Mentoring at WY-FI
What is Peer Mentoring?
Peer mentoring is where a person who has lived through a specific experience (peer mentor) helps a person going through a similar experience (peer mentee). Peer mentees learn from those who have recovered, or rehabilitated. Peer mentors learn new skills and improve their chances of employment.
What do WY-FI Peer Mentors do?
WY-FI Peer Mentors volunteer across West Yorkshire (Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield) by supporting our navigator teams to help adults with multiple needs engage with support services.
Using their own knowledge and lived experience of local services and recovery options, WY-FI Peer Mentors support and build up mentoring relationships with WY-FI beneficiaries to help them access relevant services. WY-FI Peer Mentors are important for demonstrating visible recovery and instilling hope.
WY-FI Peer Mentors receive training, supervision and travel expenses are reimbursed for each day of volunteering.
