WY-FI Project

West Yorkshire – Finding Independence | Supporting people with multiple needs

Peer Mentor training

When the induction is complete, WY-FI Peer Mentors take part in a 12 week training course which will cover topics such as:

  • mentoring skills
  • negotiation skills
  • conflict resolution, and
  • safeguarding

The course requires 1 day commitment per week for 12 weeks.

During training, you will have the opportunity to shadow WY-FI Navigators and WY-FI Peer Mentors. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an accredited CERTA Level 2 qualification in Peer Mentoring.

Once you have started as a WY-FI Peer Mentor, you will have access to even more training opportunities.

“This course has helped me so much, I’m so glad I did it” Peer Mentor course participant

We ask that Peer Mentors commit to a minimum of 1/2 day per week in your placement.

Employment opportunities

Many of our previous Peer Mentors have gained employment in the WY-FI Project as Trainee Navigators or joined partner organisations in a range of paid roles.
